The Newt in Somerset has ancient woodland, historic gardens, and far-reaching views. It is a unique destination with Hotel, Spa, Restaurants and much more. Visitors can take a tour of the gardens, deer park and cyder press, dine in the Garden Café and visit our farm shop. Attracting some 200,000 visitors per year, The Newt in Somerset is a vibrant and thriving attraction, animated throughout the seasons by special events, workshops and education programmes.

**Our Gardens Team**

The Gardens Team (Ornamental Gardens, Kitchen Gardens, Fruit Collections Nursery & Woodlands) are dedicated to understanding, developing, curating, protecting, and managing The Newts living collection of plants, in an environment where visitors are encouraged to experience and learn about plants, garden history, habitats and to enjoy the gardens. The team run several events and workshops for our visitors over the year which include the popular daily garden tours.

Roles within Business Support are dedicated to optimising professional, sales and marketing and administrative services, which support the work of other Newt roles in making The Newt successful.

**Our Administrator**

Provides a range of administrative support within a designated area of the organisation, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of administrative services which support the day-to-day activities of a major operation or key business function with the Horticulture Team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develops and manages administrative systems and procedures, ensuring computerized and paper-based records are updated promptly and accurately in accordance with agreed security and confidentiality standards.
- Provides administrative support in a range of departmental activities including diary management, purchase ordering, filing, co-coordinating departmental correspondence, and responding to enquires and ordering.
- Completing bi-weekly and monthly invoicing and receipting and liaising with our finance department.
- Assists with the compilation and production of management information, retrieving and collating data and information for inclusion in regular and ad-hoc reports.
- Actively engages and interacts with all contacts answering questions, providing guidance and imparting knowledge in order to ensure an appropriate open and professional culture from within the team.
- Co-ordinates and manages the filing and updating of departmental policies, procedures and systems, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
- Assists other teams within The Newt where cross functional working is required to ensure appropriate administrative efficiencies are being maintained.

**Skills and Experience**
- Numeracy and literacy must be at a sufficient level to enable the job holder to use intermediate IT programmes, maintain accurate records, interpret policies and procedures, and produce information reports.
- The jobholder will have gained at least two years previous experience of working in a project management, clerical or administrative role. Knowledge of intermediate office systems and procedures is essential as is the ability to communicate at various levels within and outside of the organisation.
