An opportunity has arisen for a Patient Transport Coordinator Role.

The Patient Transport Services department continues to establish itself as a single point of contact for ordering all patient transport across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Working in a busy team, the successful applicant will be required to receive, assess and co-ordinate requests for patient transport across the Trust with the transport available. The post-holder must be able to manage deadlines and be able to prioritise effectively. A good knowledge of the geographical area of Cornwall would be an advantage. The patient transport is also looking to expand the service it provides to include staff travel.

You will be required to demonstrate the ability to communicate at all levels and function efficiently within a pressurised environment. Key requirements include good customer service skills, a good telephone manner, IT skills, problem solving and trouble-shooting abilities. The office is open from 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday, 0930-1730 weekends and Bank Holidays.

Receive, assess, co-ordinate and advise on requests for Patient Transport. This may involve calls from individual patients / relatives / carers in respect of their transport arrangements.

Where patients meet eligibility criteria, organise the appropriate transport to transfer patients to Community Hospitals, Intermediate Care Homes and other NHS health facilities, as well as private addresses, in liaison with TAP (Transport Access for Patients), SWAST (South West Ambulance Trust) and Private Ambulance companies.

Where the patient does not meet eligibility criteria, advise appropriate alternatives.
