**Job overview**:
**Patient Pathway Assistant Band 3**:
An exciting opportunity to work within the General Surgery Team.

The role will be to support all administration aspects of the patient pathway in line with 18 weeks referral to treatment guidelines and cancer pathways. Therefore, 18 weeks and cancer knowledge would be highly beneficial.

This post is based in our friendly admin office at Epsom Hospital.

**Main duties of the job**:
The postholder will assist the provision of the highest quality patient care
through dedicated administrative and clerical support to medical and nursing staff and continuous improvement.

Based on a speciality clinical team, the post holder will support all
administrative and clerical issues relating to patients' pathway of care,
tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment &/or discharge.

The postholder will provide a patient-focused service that helps clinical
staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources and ensure that patients are fit, willing and able to be treated and that they are treated in the right place, by the right person, at the right time.

The post holder will ensure high levels of patient care by assisting the Patient Pathway Coordinators.

- Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English at grade C or above.

**Desirable criteria**:

- NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care or equivalent

**Experience**:

- Experience of customer care.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Knowledge of patient administration work in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of a full range of IT/Patient administration systems.

**Knowledge and Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- The ability to prioritise tasks effectively with some direction.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working on ERS (E-referral service)
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles

- Evidence of ability to prioritise workload with some direction.
