Job summary

The postholder will assist the provision of the highest quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support to medical and nursing staff and continuous improvement.

Based in a specialty clinical team, the post holder will support all administrative and clerical issues relating to patients' pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment &/or postholder will provide a patient focused service that supports clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources and ensure that patients are fit, willing and able to be treated and that they are treated in the right place, by the right person, at the right time.

The post holder will ensure high levels of patient care by assisting the Patient Pathway Coordinators and by being an accessible, customer focused and knowledgeable point of contact.

Main duties of the job

The Gastroenterology team is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to fulfil a Patient Pathway Assistant (PPA) role. This is an exciting opportunity to gain a full understanding of the patient's pathway from referral into the Trust and the patient's journey from treatment to discharge.

The PPA will work within an existing admin PPA will undertake a full wide range of administrative and patient focused tasks. The post holder will work closely with specialist nurses, consultants, patients, junior doctors, managers and also with carers and relatives. The PPA will primarily be responsible for managing digitally dictated letters on DICT- IT system and iCM/iPM.
