**Job summary**:
Band 3 Anticoagulation Support Secretary

As a member of the team you will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists to support the smooth running of clinics and day to day administrative tasks. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with patients and relatives face to face and over the telephone. This role will occasionally require cross site cover.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
1.Secretarial

a)To assist the clinic coordinator/office manager to prioritise all incoming work on a daily basis, including responding quickly and appropriately to urgent/important issues, queries, referring to the Consultant/CNS team as required.

b)To be a point of contact for patient/patient relative enquiries. Responding appropriately to difficult and sensitive enquiries to ensure continuity of care and treatment for patients.

c)To be a point of contact for all internal and external telephone enquiries from clinicians, nursing staff, ward clerks, general practitioners and other hospitals pertaining to anticoagulation therapy.

d)To receive and process all new patient referrals from within the Trust, General Practitioners and other Trusts ensuring that both local and national NHS objectives are met.

e) On a weekly basis, review patient non-attendance via clinic database and offer alternative appointments via phone or correspondence within agreed clinic timescales.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C)

**Desirable**:

- Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment
- RSA level II or above

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems
- Clerical experience

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a busy environment
- Experience of working in Healthcare
- Knowledge of NHS systems
