**Job summary**:
We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Support Secretaries to join our secretarial team within the Breast Department. The posts require individuals who are resilient and adaptable to work in a fast-paced professional environment.

You will be responsible for handling telephone calls, support with booking new and follow up appointments, typing clinic letters, chasing imaging results, processing referrals and providing support for the secretaries.

You should have good communication and organisational skills and able to use your own initiative in prioritising your workload.

There are two posts available:
30 hours - 12 month fixed term (Queen Elizabeth Hospital).

30 hours - 8 month secondment (Good Hope Hospital).

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:

- To book, reschedule and cancel appointments/clinics.
- To produce accurate correspondence in a timely manner, typing from audio dictation.
- Providing a first point of contact for patients, colleagues and other health care professionals.
- Updating and inputting of patient information on to the appropriate systems and spreadsheets.
- Completing necessary actions required from correspondence and requests received.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Good General Education (eg. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
- Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment
- AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology
- Working knowledge of medical terminology

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Experience of working as a Medical Secretary
- Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
- Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience of using IT systems
- Experience of working in Healthcare
- Good Organisational skills
- Able to use own initiative and deal with the unpredictable
- Able to work under pressure and to multi-task
- Able to work to deadlines

**Desirable**:

- Experience of working in a busy environment
