**Introduction**:
**Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist looking for new opportunity to utilise your expertise in a varied environment? Would you like further to develop yourself as clinician within a Mental Health a setting?**

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to lead the SLT service at Elysium All Saints Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. The role is a full time, permanent position at 37.5 hours per week across both sites. We are open to a discussion surrounding how that might work.

In this role you will provide high quality assessment, implement plans for care programmes in group or individual settings using approaches that are evidence based. Specialist clinical advice to other staff surrounding the management and care of service users with communication difficulties and/or hearing impairment is also a part of your role. You will lead the SLT service and its development at these locations and oversee a team of SLTAs working in a culturally diverse in-patient setting.

Our service users at both locations have complex and enduring mental health disorders, and other co-morbid conditions or issues such as:

- Learning Disability
- Acquired Brain Injury
- Deafness
- Personality Disorder
- Emotional and mental health problems with associated risk behaviours
- Challenging behaviours etc.

**Post Location(s) Summary**

**All Saints Hospital** is a specialist mental health service for men who are deaf and have complex communication needs. It is a culturally sensitive service which has been created to provide support and rehabilitation with care and intervention from both deaf and hearing members of staff. The service offers programmes for men aged 18 and above who present with challenges and who require specialist care. The hospital also has self-contained flats for men over 18 years old, to help them move along their care pathway to more independent living.

**St Mary’s Hospital** provides care and support for men over the age of 18 years who require a period of specialised rehabilitation in a safe and caring environment. The hospital offers specialised services for people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), a progressive neurological condition, an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex needs and Deaf mental health problems. There is also a four-bed acute service which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of individuals in crisis or suffering from a significant mental health illness.

**Your responsibilities**
- To provide a high standard of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment and intervention to people within St Mary’s Hospital and All Saints. Also other local settings as required (such as conducting dysphagia assessments in the absence of another Lead SLT). The person will have a particular specialism in working with people with mental health, Acquired Brain Injury, ASD and/ or LD. Experience of working with people who are deaf is also advantageous.
- To contribute to the continued development of a high-quality therapeutic service.
- To manage a complex clinical caseload ensuring high standards of care that is flexible to the needs of the person using evidence based / person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intervention.
- To provide specialist Dysphagia assessment and intervention to patients, utilising competencies and experience at a specialist practitioner level.

**To be successful in this role, you'll need**
- Degree in Speech & Language Pathology
- Current HCPC registration.
- RCSLT Membership.
- Evidence of Post-graduate study.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Leadership and service management skills.
- Excellent communication skills
- verbal and written.
- Ability to adopt a systematic approach
- Clinical reasoning skills
- Training and education skills
- Able to work independently and show initiative
- Expert knowledge in dysphagia and communication disorders
- Experience in delivering group or individual based interventions.
