**PROFILE**

You will be providing restorative mentoring services for young people at Everton Free School. Who will be referred directly from the staff within the schools. The aim of this role is to reduce youth violence, increase attendance at the school and provide the YP with the tools to have a positive future.

You will provide:

- Intensive mentoring support for young people referred to you.
- Work WITH the YP to create a bespoke Support Plan, highlighting areas of need and being future focused.
- Complete Remedi’s interventions with the YP to educate, prevent involvement with the CJS.
- Family support in order to address conflict within the home and to encourage positive/supportive familial relationships.
- Advocacy in meetings when required both in the school and out.

Examples of this will include both emotional and practical support, with a focus on;
- resolving any family relationship issues
- supporting and encouraging individuals to form/engage in healthy relationships/friendships with family members and peers
- supporting children/young people to access and engage with Education Training or Employment
- supporting children/young people to access and engage with relevant health care to meet their needs i.e., mental and physical health services
- supporting individuals to engage positively with their family, school and within the local community

This is not an exhaustive list, and we will work with you to develop ways in which to identify the individual young person’s needs by being innovative, proactive and by working closely with Everton Free School staff and pupils.

You will be required to attend meetings advised by Everton Free School with partner agencies.

You will be required to record and report on case completions and provide case studies to the Manager and the school on a regular basis.

You will be working 35 hours a week on a flexible basis to suit the availability of the young people and, as a result, can expect some weekend and evening working. Some of your time will be spent in the school offering 1-1 support, attending meetings and working with other staff members but you will also be out in the local community working with families.

We are looking for someone with passion, empathy and motivation, some experience of the education sector is desirable but we and Everton school will provide full training for the role.

The skills and qualities you will need to do the job well are:
**COMMUNICATION**:

- Good communication skills with YP and their families is a must, as is the ability to communicate in a clear, timely fashion (verbally and in writing) with partner agencies such as school, social care and youth justice professionals. Forming and maintaining relationships with these partner agencies is vital to the success of the work we do.

**FLEXIBILITY-** weekends and early evening working may be required to meet the availability and needs of the children and young people.

**MOTIVATION-** _This _role is very rewarding and can make a significant difference to someone’s life. Many of the young people we support face a number of challenges and can find it difficult to engage. You will need to provide encouragement and support and use innovative strategies in order to meet their needs and to motivate them to engage.

**IT CAPABLE-** We want you to spend the majority of your time working with people. There is, however a responsibility to record information accurately and promptly on our secure case recording system and the schools. As a result, it is essential that you are proficient in using:
**SAFETY-** We want you to work safely in all aspects of the role
- health and safety, safeguarding for all concerned, data protection, risk assessment etc. Full training will be provided in all of these aspects, and we will be looking for someone committed to achieving high standards in regard to all of these issues.

**WHAT TO EXPECT**

The role will be based in Liverpool and whilst every effort will be made to focus the location of work in a particular area, applicants should be prepared to work anywhere in the city.

Expenses are covered but **you will need to drive and have access to your own vehicle.**

- Starting salary £21,840 rising to £25,000 at the end of Year 2 in role
- 6% employer pension contribution
