As an ACA, your time will be split between driving our non-emergency ambulances and providing care to patients in the back of the ambulance. This involves assisting them to and from the pickup and destination. This role is suited to those who are caring and want to make a difference.

**Job Title**: Ambulance Care Assistant (Qualified)

**Salary**: £22,048 - £23,046 per annum

**Hours**: 40 hours a week - Full Time

**Shift**: 12 Hour shifts (example rota 4 on, 4 off / No Nights)

We are seeking enthusiastic people with a caring disposition to join our team at MET Medical. As an ambulance care assistant (ACA) you will play a vital role in transporting vulnerable patients for hospital appointments and hospital discharges.

**Job Summary**:
The role is for qualified Ambulance Care Assistants. It involves driving or working together as part of a crew to support patients with different mobility needs. The job purpose is to provide and maintain a caring environment for these patients and provide a safe transport service, maintaining high standards of patience and timeliness. Every day is different as an ACA, and you could really make a difference to our patients

**Responsibilities**:

- Convey and care for patients within MET Medical care, undertaking pre-planned activity and Patient Transport journeys booked on the day.
- This role requires the ability to work with vulnerable, frail people, with the need for medical treatment at hospitals in a caring and compassionate way
- Use of carry chairs, stair climbers, wheelchairs, stretchers and scoops.
- Ensure patients have a safe, smooth journey, complying with all relevant traffic legislation and driving with consideration for other road users.
- Where relevant check that patients have all the necessary requirements for their appointment or discharge, including paperwork and medication if appropriate.
- When collecting from home, request that the patient’s property is secured on leaving and that the patients have a means of entry back into the property on return.
- To ensure that the ambulance vehicle and its equipment and consumable stock is in operational readiness at all times and to report any defects immediately to the Fleet Operative.
- To actively participate in cleaning routines on vehicles, equipment and areas of the ambulance station facilities to ensure effective infection control standards are adhered to.
- Ensure that all patients are treated with dignity and respect in communications and actions, in particular taking account of cultural differences and disability and in line with the MET Medicals policy.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Essential / Experience**:

- At least 2 years experience of driving with a full UK manual driving license - (No more than 3 endorsement points)
- Valid FREC 3 Qualification or Ambulance Care Assistant Certificate (in date)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- To be flexible, approachable, calm, enthusiastic, honest and have integrity
- A caring attitude towards patients and the ability to show empathy
- Applicants require excellent communication skills and a good level of English (spoken and written).
