**Job Purpose**

Proactive Personnel are currently looking for a Senior Therapeutic Parent to deliver a re-parenting recovery programme to children aged between 4 and 12 who have experience trauma in their lives. This will involve caring for children who can at times display complex and challenging behaviours. The post holder will also assist in the day to day running of the home including domestic duties and paperwork / record keeping working closely with onsite deputy lead therapeutic parents, clinical and education teams to provide tailored psychological recovery programmes for each child.

**Main Duties - Day to Day**
- To work very closely with the Deputy Therapeutic Parents and Management to ensure the running of the home is to a high standard meeting Ofsted Quality Standards.
- To contribute to the development of the child through the provision of a therapeutic home environment and being a committed and consistent adult role model.
- To be assigned as a key worker or co-key worker to a child and to provide a high standard level of care throughout.
- To provide warmth and care for our children providing personal care needs, cooking, cleaning, washing, shopping and budgeting pocket monies or by promoting our children to carry out such tasks themselves, where appropriate.
- To ensure pocket money / petty cash receipts are retained for financial auditing records.
- To support the child with onsite or mainstream education attendance completing homework and other school related activities.
- To follow the children’s care plans and risk assessments and carry out job role in accordance with childcare policies and procedures at all times.
- To complete and comply with all risk assessments in place and update, where required.
- To ensure you as a Senior Therapeutic Parent complete the log book throughout your shift. To ensure that all staff on shift, complete daily c sheets and records in the evening.
- To complete children’s file audits on a monthly basis.
- To ensure that you and the team meet Health and Safety requirements and they are updated and maintained to standards as required by Ofsted.
- To take in to consideration when planning your shift, activities, health appointments, meetings, their hygiene routine times to ensure that all children’s needs are met throughout.
- To be committed to being on call and being available during your on call period for anyone who needs further advice/support.
- To ensure that the staff are supervising the children at all times and have the confidence to address any staffing/practice issues raised whilst on your shift.
- To ensure all accidents (including children, employees and third parties) are recorded immediately using the correct forms and notification procedures.
- To administer medication to children who require it and ensure that you abide by the medication policies and procedures.

**The responsibilities of the Senior Therapeutic Parent are**:

- To promote a healthy lifestyle and demonstrate positive and consistent adult role model behaviours.
- To assist assessing the development and approaches to the Restorative Parenting index’s and measure children’s progress against the RPI.
- To understand each individual child with a commitment to a mindful relationship with the children remaining emotionally attuned with a willingness to understand how the world feels from the child’s perspective.
- Ability to build trust with children and offer strategies to help children manage their inner anxieties and manage their feelings and behaviour.
- To encourage the physical, emotional and social needs of our children remaining sensitive to the needs of children, taking account of religion, sexuality etc.
- To identify and set consistent rules and boundaries to modify unacceptable behaviours using Restorative Parenting techniques and following an ‘authoritative parenting’ style.
- To assist the children to help gain social awareness of other peers or adults and develop a relationship by building trust with the child.

**Essentials**:

- Aged 21 and over
- Holds a full UK drivers’ manual licence
- Available to work 365 days of the year and work on call.
