As a Senior Residential Support Worker in an EBD (Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties) children's home, you will play a crucial role in providing support and care to children who have experienced challenging life situations. You will be responsible for overseeing the residential care team, ensuring the well-being, safety, and development of the children under your care.

Hourly rate: £11.50ph

Sleep in rate: £50 per night

Shift pattern: 2 on 3 off

Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to a team of residential support workers, ensuring effective teamwork and communication.
Conduct regular supervision sessions and performance appraisals for staff members, offering support and identifying training needs.

Residential Care: Establish a nurturing and structured environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the children.
Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, addressing the specific needs and goals of each child.
Oversee the daily routines and activities, ensuring a safe and positive living environment.
Provide support and engage in therapeutic interactions with the children to promote their personal growth and development.

Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to effectively manage challenging behaviours and promote positive changes.
Work closely with the children's therapists, psychologists, and social workers to develop and implement behaviour support plans.
Act as a positive role model for the children, promoting self-esteem, resilience, and positive coping skills.

Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with external professionals, including social workers, educators, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care for the children.
Collaborate with the children's families and guardians, involving them in the care planning process and providing regular updates on progress and challenges.

Documentation and Reporting: Complete accurate and timely documentation, including incident reports, care plans, and progress notes.
Maintain records and case files for each child, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.

Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and risk assessments within the residential setting.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of all residents and staff members.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a residential care setting, preferably with EBD children.
- NVQ 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent (desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and build relationships with children, families, and professionals.
- Experience in implementing behaviour management strategies and therapeutic interventions.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation and writing reports.
- An empathetic and resilient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting and making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
