**Join Our Team as a Residential Senior Family Assessment Worker**

Based in Dukinfield, you would have a key supervisory role supporting families in a newly established residential family assessment centre. We are now seeking ambitious staff to join our team.

**About us**
- We are a new residential assessment centre but come with a highly qualified and extremely experienced team of senior managers and directors.
- We can support up to 6 families, for a parenting assessment period of around 12/13 weeks.
- Our ultimate aim is for families to leave our services having had fair and non
- judgemental opportunities to progress and thrive.

**Main Aims of the Role**

As a Senior, you will play a pivotal role in supporting your colleagues in delivering targeted sessions to parents, carrying out observations and supporting and assessing families to aim to improve parents and their children’s life outcomes. You will directly contribute to court assessments and associated recording processes.

Family Support Workers are aware that the needs of the child and safeguarding are paramount. They work directly with families with complex needs, undertaking residential parenting assessments.

**The Job**
- Lead the shift and act as the senior member of the family support team
- Have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
- Be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with children and adults.
- Build good working relationships with families who may initially be reluctant to accept support.
- Complete robust assessments, risk assessments and formulate plans to meet the needs of children and their families.
- Build excellent working relationships with partner agencies.
- Deliver evidence-based parenting programmes (training available)
- Complete observations both in person and via CCTV.
- Follow the families individual placement plans and report any changes/concerns.
- Carry out case file audits as part of quality assurance
- Provide sensitive feedback to families.
- Mentoring of staff.
- Role model good practice to inspire the wider team to work creatively and flexibly.
- Effectively contribute to the day to day running and required tasks of the centre.
- Be active in ensuring services are culturally competent and able to respond effectively to children and families from different backgrounds and with different protected characteristics.
- Support families with daily living tasks, attending appointments and activities.
- Work in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures and take a lead in supporting colleagues to do so.
- Keep accurate and up to date records.
- Attending meetings in house and external as appropriate, where required.
- To attend professional supervision and case load supervision with either the Manager, Deputy Manager or the resident Social Worker and participate in the production of own reflective practice.
- To attend appropriate training courses as arranged, in order to meet any training needs identified, continue ones professional development and enhance skills, in line with the organisations’ training policies.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to use effective and creative ways of communicating and engaging with children and their families.
- A good knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with children and vulnerable adults.
- A sound knowledge and understanding of child development and of safeguarding and child protection procedures in order to be able to make accurate and informative observations.
- Able to reflect on your own performance to ensure compliance and good practice and embed our robust family support standards.
- Ability to provide guidance, support and leadership across the wider team.

**Qualification and Experience**
- Qualified as a minimum to an NVQ level 3 qualification in health and social care/childcare or equivalent and willing to work towards a level 4 Working with Families qualification.
- Experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience of working with vulnerable families
- Experience of delivering parenting courses an advantage
- Additional qualifications/experience in related topics such as, drugs and alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, baby massage, or other therapeutic support packages would be desirable.
- Additional expertise in specific supportive programmes such as The Freedom Programme, and/or trained in the delivery of other parenting programmes will be an advantage.

**Work patterns**
- We offer a rota shift pattern considering the needs of the families and the centre, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- The centre is open 24 hours a day for 365 days a year. Consequently shifts can be varied to fulfil the practicalities of the working day. You would work 40 hours a week on a rota s
