Family Support Worker

Kaleidoscope Assessment Services currently have three family assessment centres, Chester Road, Finsley House and Dumbell House. They accommodate parents with their children for a 13 week parenting assessment which assesses their parenting capacity.
Throughout their assessment we will offer guidance, support and advice to assist them with their parenting and develop their knowledge and skills.
**Job Purpose**
- To work as part of a team in a residential based setting; the families have their own self contained flat's which are observed via CCTV.
- Provide detailed, objective, evidence based recordings.
- To observe and record the nature of the interactions between the family and their child/ren. To acknowledge and discuss external factors and environmental factors as they are key in helping produce assessment reports and to make recommendations to the Local Authority on future planning.
- To provide appropriate advice and guidance to families in accordance with their individual programmes, individual needs and NHS Guidelines.
- To work in partnership with colleagues and outside services such as the local authority, midwives, health visitors and any other requested support services for the families.
- To provide intensive, high quality and dependable standard of service which meets our organisations codes of practice, values, standards and statement of purpose.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team. As a Family Support Worker, you will provide guidance and support to individuals and their children, helping them to go on and lead fulfilling lives. **Responsibilities**:
- Ensure that CCTV is monitored in accordance to the individual families needs/ placement plan and there is detailed, factual, evidence based recordings made from your observations.
- Answer any phone calls, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Document any information requested to management.
- Read the communication book before each shift.
- Staff signing in book to be signed at the start and end of each shift.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are read and signed.
- Any new referral information is read and discussed with management if required.
- Observe families within the community.
- Observe tasks in line with the individual families stage of assessment, support and guidance offered following NHS guidelines.
- Play activities to be recommended and offered with families such as Tummy Time, Messy Play, Cooking and Baking sessions.
- Supervise family contact if requested by the placing local authority. This will be discussed pre placement. Clearly record and document all family contact.
- Ensure the centre is clean and tidy at all times.
**Experience/ qualifications**
- Level 3 in Children and Young People's Work force / Health and Social Care is desirable
- Previous experience working with children is required
- Ability to communicate effectively with children of different ages and backgrounds
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with families
- Ability to establish boundaries and maintain confidentiality
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract
**Salary**: £10.90 per hour
Expected hours: 16 - 40 per week
