You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

You'll be part of the Innovation and Digital Products office, a dedicated function with substantial investment by BDO to lead the future of technology change by introducing new digital products and services. Our team of over 50 talented individuals includes designers, coders, and innovation managers, working on projects from generative AI products to automation and e-commerce solutions.

We collaborate with partners such as Microsoft and other leading technology providers, and our digital products are used by employees, clients, audited entities, suppliers, regulators, and other BDO firms worldwide.

The role reports to the Head of Innovation and Digital Products, and is part of the team responsible for delivering new products in a fast moving, innovative and stimulating environment.

As a Digital Product Delivery Lead at BDO, you'll play a crucial role within our IT team and the Innovation and Digital capability. You'll work across a diverse portfolio of digital products, from inception to delivery. Our digital products range from client-facing, AI-driven services like the BDO Store and R&D Tax Credits Benchmarking Service, to internal tools that impact the daily work of over 10,000 employees.

You’ll also:

- Lead, coach, and mentor agile teams to embrace and execute agile principles and methodologies effectively.
- Foster a collaborative and self-organising team environment. Encourage team members to take ownership of their work and continuously improve their processes.
- Lead product delivery on complex products to a high standard, considering risk and deliverables against the firms’ strategic goals.
- Guide and supervise sprints, reviews, and retrospectives to encourage a culture of change. Remove impediments and ensure the team is on track to meet sprint goals.
- Collect and analyse agile metrics to track team performance and project progress. Provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Act as the bridge between our Innovation Labs across all business units (Audit, Tax, Advisory) to ensure that progress and knowledge is shared.
- Manage product resource allocation, capacity planning, and workload distribution to optimise team efficiency and productivity, whilst increasing visibility to stakeholders.
- Help to direct and prioritise a backlog of user stories and tasks with support from innovation managers, product managers, and product owners.
- Proactively identify risks and issues that may impact project delivery and work with the team to develop mitigation plans.
- Promote a focus on quality by encouraging the use of best practices, code reviews and testing within the development process and the adherence to BDO development standards and ways of working. Challenge best practice throughout.
- Work with the IT Governance and PMO team to ensure governance checkpoints and approvals are met.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication within the team and between teams. Ensure transparency by sharing information and updates with IT and Business stakeholders.
- Identify areas for improvement within the agile process and facilitate discussions on how to make necessary adjustments. Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product owners, product managers, and stakeholders to shape product goals, scope, and priorities.

You’ll be someone with:

- The ability to demonstrate recent experience of Agile delivery in a software/product development environment.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies
- Previous experience of developing both team members and teams with an understanding of the importance of team building, quality delivery and continual development.
- Ability to coach and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in agile project management tools - Azure DevOps preferred.
- Knowledge of software development and product lifecycle process
