Job title: Commercial Marketing Coordinator
**Job Purpose**:
With four physical outlets on three campuses, plus an online shop and external hire service, GSU’s Commercial team require a dedicated marketing role to support their service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
This role sits in the Marketing (Marcomms) team and will also work closely with roles in the Commercial team to ensure communications and materials are appropriate for use, timely and help the Commercial team reach footfall and income targets.
There is an increased focus on digital marketing at GUS which extends to this role. You will be responsible for managing the social media accounts for each outlet also, as well as ensuring all digital and hard copy marketing materials are up to date with the latest product and service information and offers.
Flexibility is essential to this role - this is not a traditional Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm job. Whilst there will be some office working to focus on some planned commercial projects, you will also be on call for the Marcomms and Commercial team for those last-minute needs as our outlets are open outside of office hours*. This might be after a normal office day might finish, sometimes on a weekend. The postholder will also be required to attend some events such as our termly club nights to capture our members and customers having a great time, so that these moments can be reflected in our comms.

**Reports to**: Marketing and Communications (Marcomms) Manager
**Responsible for**: No current direct reports
**Location/s**: Mainly based at Greenwich Campus; travel required to Avery Hill and Medway campuses
**Hours of work**: Full-time, 35 hours per week, spread over seven days
**Salary**: £25,721 - £27,577 per annum full-time
Level 5 on Union pay scale, incl. London Weighting

**1 Duties and key responsibilities**
**Marketing and communications delivery**
- Plan, create and deliver content about our commercial outlets and activity to run across our website, in our newsletters and on commercial social media channels
- Produce and distribute necessary hard copy materials about our commercial offer across all three University campuses
- Be a presence at commercial union events to document them for communications content
- Create all content and materials in accordance with GSU’s strategic plan, Marketing Action Plan, and all brand and content guidelines
- Support the Marcomms Manager to implement and deliver the SU’s social media strategy across the commercial accounts, supporting the Commercial team to deliver effective communications
- Work with the Marcomms team to produce commercial marketing materials and communications for a range of audiences, working with key stakeholders, other Coordinators, Managers and/or Full-time Officers where relevant to ensure they are clear, useful, timely and of high quality
- Work with relevant Union staff to produce and manage detailed production schedules for all communications pieces
- Work with external providers and suppliers of communications support where necessary (e.g. printers, content management system)
- Help to develop partnerships both internally and externally and through this maximise engagement with members and customers
**Stakeholder management**
- Effectively work with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers, University staff) to provide the most effective service for the SU, and ensure that service is provided and conducted in a timely manner
- Help to organise Union presence at, and be an ambassador for the SU at internal and external events related to commercial activity (e.g. University Open Days, conferences)
- Support Marcomms Manager in working with Union stakeholders to develop communication campaigns appropriate to commercial events and activities, supporting them with ideas and effective organisation for delivery
- Keep abreast of key changes in marketing practices to deliver the most effective service strategy for the SU
**Line management**
- Responsible for the recruitment, induction and management of any student staff (should opportunity arise), providing personal development opportunities for them to grow and flourish
- Line manage direct reports in line with the policies and procedures of the Union
- Set targets for direct report/s in line with the strategic/operational plans of the Union, managing their performance and development
- Be aware of and ensure that all staff are aware of the importance of supporting our Diversity plans and that this is integrated into every aspect of the department’s activities
