As our **Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer**,** **you** **will support safeguarding, providing support and leadership as a Designated Safeguarding Officer

**Responsibilities of our** **Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer**:

- Take responsibility on behalf of the organisation for day to day safeguarding management, following DfE statutory Guidance, specifically Keeping Children safe in Education. Promote a positive culture of information sharing which leads to effective safeguarding processes being followed.
- Deliver small group/1:1 staff training as appropriate for internal staff who may require leadership, tools and upskilling to understand their responsibilities and signposting.
- Work with local agencies and internal systems to ensure care plans, referrals, risk assessments and support plans are in place and supporting the young person.
- Meet information sharing protocols and high-level communications to ensure families, students and the Hull College School team are informed and supported.
- Work with the enrichment team to manage the student’s wellbeing and progress in personal development.
- Take ownership as a team leader of the support agency outreach programmes and in school activities to support interventions and activities. To lead with the support team to progress the ELSA development work across the Hull College School
- Work closely with the SEN and Behaviour Team leader to ensure a joint approach wo wellbeing and welfare leading to positive school experiences, timely interventions and impactful restorative actions by all. Work with individuals and or groups of learners who require additional support both in classroom-based activities and out of class.
- Work with individual learners to improve their life skills, enabling transition into post 16 options. Implementing strategies and supporting learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities
- Drawing up agreed action plans with learners, outlining the aims of mentoring, and monitoring their progress
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of actions taken following concerns raised and closing off records on shared systems. Develop transition records and plans for new starts
- Attend and contribute to regular whole staff and learning support team meetings.
- Be involved in the marketing, promotion, recruitment and interviewing of students, including participating in open events, school tasters and enrolment events, amongst other activities.
- Support with break, lunchtime and prompt start checks as per school rota.

**What we’re looking for in our** **Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer**:

- Safeguarding specialism (minimum Level 2)
- Specialist qualifications to support wellbeing
- Previous experience of safeguarding and wellbeing support
- Able to work as a professional team member. Able to liaise with tutors, employers, awarding bodies and other agencies
- Able to work with students of all ages in classroom, workshop and one to one situation.
- Enthusiastic and positive approach in all situations
