**Children & Young People’s Independent Sexual Violence Advisor**

You’ll support children, young people and families after a disclosure of child sexual abuse has been made to police. Working in a flexible and responsive way with both adults and children to deliver professional, emotional and practical support that meets their individual needs throughout the Criminal Justice Process.

**Children and Young People’s Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (CHISVA) Responsibilities**:
Develop and deliver a non-therapeutic advocacy and support service to children, young people and vulnerable adults following a disclosure of child sexual abuse.

Work within CPS pre-trial therapy guidelines.

Help children, young people and vulnerable adults to access appropriate interventions, engage with support organisations.

Where necessary provide emotional and practical support through the criminal justice system and liaise with Police, Registered Intermediaries and other Court professionals.

Provide clear, concise, relevant & accurate information to families regarding the police and criminal justice process.

Risk assess and help young people keep safe

Support children, young people and vulnerable adults to access their rights.

Support children, young people and vulnerable adults to access health and other services they require, in partnership with safe family members.

Keep children, young people and vulnerable adults informed of case progress, liaising with appropriate professionals.

Consider and respond to any safeguarding issues when engaging with children, young people and vulnerable adults, working within Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City Safeguarding Children Partnership policies and procedures.

Maintain a caseload and provide accurate, timely and concise electronic records using CharityLog.

Participate in individual clinical supervision, management supervision and team meetings.

Participate in group work facilitation.

Promote teamwork through good working relationships to actively maintain IMARA’s ethos of responsive, dynamic and innovative practices.

**Children and Young People’s Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (CHISVA) Requirements**:
Essential:
Safeguarding training and experience.

Excellent oral communication skills

Understanding and working knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Understanding of issues around lone-working e.g. home visits.

Own transport and holds valid driving licence and business insurance.

Desirable:
Completion of an accredited professional ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Adviser) course i.e. ISVA development programme.

Experience of working with survivors of sexual violence.

Experience of advocating and supporting others within a range of organisational settings.

**Location**:The post will be based at Imara premises in Nottingham City Centre and Mansfield Business Centre but you will be required to travel to support clients throughout Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, and to work from home for a proportion of the week
