The Assistant Employee Relations Advisor role is a key part of the Employee Relations team. Join us to help build a customer focused HR service dedicated to assisting staff so they can deliver outstanding patient care.

The Assistant Employee Relations Advisor will help provide basic HR advice and support to line managers throughout the Trust, interpret policies in order to provide advice and guidance as required, and provide support to managers with regards to processes including some sickness absence management, maternity/paternity and flexible working requests.

The Assistant Employee Relations Advisor will also undertake administrative duties to support the Senior Advisors and Business Partners.

This job description outlines the current main responsibilities of the post. However, the duties of the post may change and develop over time and this job description may, therefore be amended in consultation with the post holder as per Trust Policies and Procedures.

Interpret and advise on general terms and conditions of employment and policies; for example, annual leave, pay, performance, hours of work, conduct, contracts and Agenda for Change terms and conditions of employment.

Support managers with less complex sickness review meetings in accordance with policy. Undertake compliance reviews of sickness and return to work interviews, liaising directly with managers to ensure processes are followed and recorded appropriately.

Manage and own monthly compliance reviews and reports of key areas including fixed term contracts, visas, professional registrations, sickness, and maternity cases.

Assist with organising and running meetings and hearings for disciplinary, grievance, sickness, and appeal processes effectively. Organise and assist with other meetings as appropriate. Record minutes of meetings as required.

Maintain the HR intranet site eg uploading policies.

Manage the ER team inbox, responding to basic queries and escalating where necessary.

Support trust wellbeing by owning and conducting wellbeing checks for staff going through disciplinary processes.

Arrange Agenda for Change job evaluation panels, contributing to the maintenance of the agenda for change job tracker when required, liaising with panel members and managers regarding the process and providing panels

Support and develop the delivery of training on all HR policies and procedures

Support the Business Partners and Senior Advisors with Subject Access and Freedom of Information Requests, collating information and adhering to data protection guidelines.

Produce relevant reports where needed to assist the Senior Advisors and Business Partners with their roles.

Use the procurement system to order departmental supplies and generate PO numbers to pay invoices.

Attend relevant HR and OD Directorate meetings.

Ensure all mandatory training is undertaken in a timely manner.

Undertake an annual appraisal and personal development plan, maximising the opportunity for training and development.
