As a Trainee Project Officer, you will be enrolled on a dedicated 2-year development programme, supported by your line managers and mentors. This role offers genuine potential to progress further.

**The Role**

You will be supporting the management of projects from conception to completion. These projects are generally focussed on mechanical upgrades to existing transmission reduction stations or on our high pressure gas pipelines, either in standalone projectsor as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which will involve:

- Feasibility and conceptual designs
- Technical management and involvement in the detail design stage
- Support procurement of materials to ensure compliance with relevant specifications
- Onsite supervision of construction activities
- Cultivation of a safety culture throughout the projects
- Overseeing assigned work programmes from initiation through to programme closure
- Ensuring required controls are in place to make sure the team are set to work safely
- Team working and Integration with other engineering disciplines

- A recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering and ideally some experience of working in an engineering environment or similar discipline
- The ability to inspire and get the best out of their team
- An awareness of working within a budget and being cost conscious
- Able to think on your feet whilst always being safety aware.
- Self-motivated, with good attention to detail and a proactive work ethic and have excellent numerical and analytical skills to be able to problem solve
- Interested in developing your career within the gas network industry
- Able to commit to 2 years of training and development
- A full and valid driving licence is essential

As part of your learning journey we will provide you with the skills, knowledge and behaviours to work as part of our highly skilled Transmission Team, delivering projects on SGN’s gas network, which safely delivers gas to 5.9 million homes and businessesacross Scotland and the south of England.

You will be supported by highly skilled engineers and colleagues, who will provide opportunity for you to develop your competencies in real work situations, supplementing your ongoing learning through our tailored development programme. Over the course ofthe programme you may be required to attend a number of training venues, which may be a distance away from your home. When you are required to stay away from home, we will arrange travel and accommodation. Flexibility is essential in this role, in terms ofhours of work.
