**Job description**:

- There is a vacancy for a Marine Health Safety and Environmental Protection/Compliance Instructor. You will be required to act as the lead instructor on courses that are scheduled throughout the year. You will also be required to administer and develop the courses you deliver to ensure their on-going currency and relevance whilst monitoring legislation including MOD policy which may lead to amendments to course content. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference across the Royal Navy by providing appropriately trained personnel that will ensure safe conditions, Health and Safety compliant working environments. Ensuring the latest codes of environmental compliance and protection are adhered to.- The position is based in The Defence School of Marine Engineering, (DSMarE), is currently situated at HMS Sultan in Gosport. The school is responsible for delivering all aspects of Marine Engineering training to Royal Naval personnel; additionally, some training is also delivered to Army, RAF and Civilian personnel, and to members of Foreign and Commonwealth armed forces.**Person specification**:
Essential. The essential specific professional skills, knowledge or qualifications for the post are as follows:
a) 5 years recent relevant experience and a recognised qualification minimum ONC in the post field of expertise.

b) National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (NEBOSH).

c) Environmental awareness training/experience (Marine)

Desirable. The desired professional skills, knowledge or qualifications for the post are as follows:
a) HNC/HND Engineering (Relevant field)

b) Marine Pollution knowledge (MARPOL).

c) Chartered/Member to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

d) A recognised teaching qualification (DTTTv2/CERT-ED).

Defence Trainers course for those without a teaching qualification will be mandatory and at present is delivered on site.
