**The Team**

The London Student Support & Guidance Coordinator roles are new and will join a rapidly expanding team in York St John’s new London campus delivering academic and pastoral support to our London students. York St John, London is seeking to recruit two talented, enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the team. The purpose of these roles is to deliver the support and guidance the London students require. The role will contribute significantly to enhancing and improving the student experience by showing commitment to improving the provision of high-quality support to students and enhancing the integration of international students into UK university life.

**The Role**

There are three main aspects to this role, the first being the delivery of a successful London Academic Skills Programme, with particular focus on English as an Academic Language, which supports international students in adapting to the demands of successful study in a well-established UK university. This programme will cover topics such as UK academic integrity and regulations, referencing conventions and avoiding plagiarism, presenting with confidence and time integrity. The Student Support & Guidance Coordinators will deliver and contribute to developing the content for this programme as well as gather student feedback on sessions to inform future planning.

The second main aspect of this role is to contribute to the efficient delivery of the Academic Tutoring Programme. This involves ensuring that all students have an academic tutor and that all academic tutors are trained in the skills necessary to provide tutoring to students, and are supported in this provision throughout the academic year. The role may also require the delivery of tutoring sessions in the event of tutors being absent.

The third main aspect of this role is to be a ‘go to’ point of contact for Welfare/ Wellbeing support and guidance for students at the London Campus. This will include recognising and responding to the support needs of students in distress, using relevant systems to log and report case notes and signposting/making referrals to internal Welfare/Wellbeing services in York as well as external local provision e.g. multi-faith spiritual advisors.

This role will fit within a wider team of student support staff including Graduate Interns and Student Ambassadors. Individuals appointed to the role will work alongside those team members to deliver ‘front of house’ support to respond to student enquiries on a daily/weekly rota’d basis.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Understanding of the skills needed to support international students.
