**What you’ll be doing**
- To be the first point of contact for all first level HR queries/activities giving operational advice and support to managers on all people related matters including recruitment/selection, discipline, grievance, change management, policy interpretation,job evaluation and employment law
- To support and administer the councils processes in relation to the employee lifecycle as directed
- Support to staff on matters relating to their health, wellbeing and employment
- Leading on HR casework/activities as directed and providing all the necessary support and advice to managers
- Identification and referral of issues which may have cross service implications to ensure a consistent and co-ordinated whole service approach

**You must have**
- Relevant qualification and/or equivalent level of experiential learning or demonstration of transferrable skills
- Experience of working in an HR environment and giving advice to managers
- Experience of maintaining accurate information/records
- Experience of developing relationships with a range of stakeholders internally
- Demonstrates a general knowledge of employment law and HR practice
- Evidence of continued personal development
- Ability to coach managers
- Good analytical and IT skills
- Good communication skills and emotional intelligence including good listening skills and the ability to respond to the diverse needs of others
- Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of diversity, equality and safeguarding issues
- Commercially focused and results driven
- Ability to be objective and give constructive feedback
- Ability to build credibility quickly
- Ability to lead by example and influence others
- Ability to manage and deliver against conflicting deadlines/priorities
