**JOB TITLE: Project Coordinator - Play Sessions & After School Clubs**

**SALARY: £ 12.13 per hour**

**CONTRACT LENGTH: TBC**

**HOURS: 20 hours per week**

**RESPONSIBLE TO: The Operations Manager**

**The aim of the SPACE centre is to provide local children who have additional needs with the opportunity to play in a friendly and safe environment, as well as to provide parents and carers support and the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation**.

**The core purpose of this role to take lead of after school clubs and family play sessions and ensuring they run smoothly.**

**Main Responsibilities**:

- To oversee the efficient delivery of family play sessions and activity clubs for children and families.
- Maintaining high standards of service in all areas of the centre (including but not limited to health & safety, safeguarding, housekeeping including medication handling).
- To engage positively with children and families, providing a caring, secure environment.
- To enthusiastically plan and deliver accessible and inclusive play session activities for children.
- To lead a team of playworkers and volunteers, which will include directing, mentoring and providing.
- To be prepared to work evenings, weekend and bank holidays as required, to cover the operating hours of the facility.
- To check and maintain the play areas, ensuring a safe standard and reporting any concerns.
- To maintain high levels of cleanliness within the centre - including participation in equipment cleaning shifts if required.
- To respond quickly and efficiently to any complaints from customers.
- To deliver excellent customer service and feed back to the Operations Manager.
- To attend and contribute to staff meetings, working collaboratively with the Operations Manager.
- To attend and contribute to training as required.
- To have full working knowledge of and work within all relevant SPACE policies (including but not limited to Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Data Protection policies, proactively reporting concerns in line with the policy).
- To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Operations Manager, Charity Manager or Board of Trustees.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

**Qualifications / Experience**

Essential:
Experience of working with children with additional needs.

Experience of working with parent/carers.

Experience of working with children in a supervisory role.

Level 3 or above in a Childcare qualification.

Experience of leading a team of staff and/or volunteers.

Desirable:
Experience of working with volunteers.

Experience of delivering group activity sessions for children with additional needs.

**Knowledge**

A wide understanding of various challenges faced by children with additional needs

Understanding of Safeguarding

Knowledge of Health and Safety

**Skills/Abilities**

Strong interpersonal skills including an ability to motivate and encourage others.

Proven planning, time management and organisational skills.

Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to listen to others.

Highly self motivated.

Ability to work on own initiative

Ability to problem solve

Ability to lead and support a team, proven experience of this.

Good ITC skills

Creative mind, able to think outside the box

DBS check required
