**About the role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Coordinator to join our team in the London Borough of Lewisham. The main purpose of your role will be to co-ordinate, organise and facilitate or deliver the successful and safe provision of group services.

Group activities can inform, educate, support and provide structured activities with identified outcomes for attendees. Groups are for a specific type of service user, for example groups for people with dementia only or people with dementia and their carer.

The type of service delivered in a group may be face to face, virtual or a mixture of both and include: (This list is not exhaustive)
- Dementia Cafe.
- Activity Groups.
- Singing for the Brain Groups.
- Information Groups.
- Music and movement group, Peer Support Groups etc.

We are looking for an experienced, friendly group coordinator who will be the familiar face to our clients, carers and all professional we are involved with locally. You will need to be able to plan and implement appropriate activities as listed above. As a group coordinator, you will be responsible for providing stimulation, interaction and encouragement our dementia service users through meaningful activities, either in group or one to one.

**About you**

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed, structured, resilience and empathetic, supportive and ready to actively promote our service across all communities to encourage all people affected by dementia to feel included and able to access our services. You will use your knowledge and skills to support you to build good rapport with your clients to ensure your approach is meaningful while you are supporting clients to achieve their goals in the community.

You must also have the following skills, personal attributes and qualities:

- An understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers.
- An understanding of the value of groups activities to people living with dementia.
- Experience of monitoring a budget and allocating resources effectively.
- Experience of lone working and working independently within the community.
- Experience of co-ordinating and role managing volunteers.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Health & Safety and the Mental Capacity Act.
- An understanding of the need for service user confidentiality.
- An understanding of collaborative working.
- Good IT skills including MS Word, MS Outlook, Zoom and Teams.
- Empathy and listening skills whilst understanding professional boundaries.
- Non-judgemental communication.
- Able to assess and evaluate service user needs.
- Commitment to and understanding of equal opportunities.
- Understanding of the inclusion agenda and its relevance within a diverse society.
- Must be able to travel independently across the London Borough of Lewisham.
