**About the role**:
You will lead the Quality function to champion, facilitate and support the effective and proportionate management of quality risk in the business. It will encourage the use of trusted tools and techniques and pursue their development and evolution to meet any demand.

You will lead by example and seek to develop and build cross-functional, hard-working teams. These will operate with autonomy with the singular goal of exceeding expectations of our internal and external customer.

The Head of quality assurance will perpetually challenge the status quo so that opportunity remains foremost in everyone’s mind.

You will act as the quality conscience, an expert adviser to leadership, management and employees, collaborate with colleagues in the Quality function to ensure legal compliance, assurance and deliver continual improvement in pursuit of excellence.

You will lead and manage the Quality team, ensure sustainability and effectiveness of the function, support professional development and manage resourcing to meet the needs and expectations of the business.

You will explore and strategize on new and novel techniques. You will be an innovation agent with the sole intent of providing competitive advantage to keep our business at the forefront of technological development.

**Areas of responsibility/tasks**:

- Design, set and implement the overarching quality philosophy, mission and strategy based on the business strategy and requirements based upon risk.
- The development and Implementation of the business Quality Policy
- Provide support, guidance and advice whilst leading the organisation in quality aspects with focus on satisfying and exceeding the internal and external customer needs and requirements.
- Management of the Quality Department to include particular focus on Supplier & Product Quality and Customer acceptance.
- Leading quality improvement initiatives: The Head of Quality is responsible for leading quality improvement initiatives across the organization. Analysing quality data, customer complaints and cost of quality to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintenance of Standards and Certifications, including BS EN ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, SSIP, IOS 27001, ISO 44001, TS 22163 and RISQS
- Ensuring competent Quality personnel are available to provide adequate support to Manufacturing, projects and management systems. Coordinate the periodic assessment of competence requirements for future business challenges. Maintain competence matrix for the function. Provide Quality training based on business needs and the strategic outlook of the company. Provide and receive feedback of topic, style and execution.
- Overall accountability for the delivery of Quality activities e.g. ensuring that Siemens aligns with its legal obligations, implementation and maintenance of effective quality management systems.
- The Management of an effective Business Management System platform.
- The Provision and delivery of a risk-based audit schedule in all regions, supplemented by regular Governance and Assurance audits. Share outputs of audits across the business. Provide trend analysis of the data yield.
- Setting of quality objectives that contribute to the business and develop team competence and experience using growth talks to supervise regular progress.
- Play a leading role in national / international QM networks and communities such as Siemens Mobility Regional, CQI Special interest group and Network Rail Quality Strategy workshop.
- Understanding the customer needs to create a quality culture of ‘one team’ and awareness together with top management for continuous improvement and high customer satisfaction.
- Provide assurance for Product Safety to ensure conformity with internal and external regulations so that the requirements are met.
- Lead review of quality performance within the business at both regional level and company level.
- Develop, control and ensure the implementation of professional non-conformance (NC) management standards with a focus on risk & opportunity management, action and effectiveness.
- Champion Lessons Learned activities across the assigned organisations.
- Drive the development of quality-related digital solutions to continuously improve process effectiveness and efficiency.
