Financial Assurance and Debt Management Officer

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Assurance & Debt Management Officer to join the Financial Assurance & Debt Management Team.
The Financial Assurance & Debt Management Officer works with care providers, are professionals and customers (in person or indirectly) to ensure the council meets its statutory and contractual duties for payments and income collections relating to its care and support services. Ensuring accurate audits, service balances and debt management reviews are completed within the Council’s statutory and contractual duties.
**The work is varied and includes**: providing procedural advice and support on financial compliance and income collection; completing audits of customer expenditure and financial contribution towards care; administering the council’s payment systems used to deliver direct payments, monitoring expenditure and supporting customers; reviewing payment records of customer contributions and investigating any payment or debt issues; working with the council’s fraud service and external agencies to investigate fraud; investigating complaints relating to the service to achieve positive outcomes; negotiating and implementing payment plans to recover debt; maintaining records of customer contact; ensuring that suspected adult protection safeguarding issues and escalated through appropriate channels.
The post holder will need to be able to work in a busy team, be positive and supportive to others, be organised and manage their own work priorities, be competent in dealing with various different people and be meticulously accurate in their work.
