**GP Workflow and Coding Assistant**

Evergreen Surgery is looking for a clinical coder to support the accurate processing of medical correspondence.

The successful applicant would have the opportunity to work with a team of coders / administrators and provide support for the practice management, doctors, nurses, and other administrative staff on a daily basis.

The successful applicant would work for Evergreen Group (40,000 patients), formed from a partnership of four GP Practices located across Enfield. The applicant will be based in Edmonton Green (N9 0TW).

Hours: 37.5 hours/week

**Responsibilities**:

- Read, and code all incoming medical correspondence.
- Where appropriate re-direct letters to other members of staff.
- Ensure that all coded information, investigations and follow up are coded accurately.
- Alert clinicians to any medical problems, new diagnoses or medication that needs follow up.
- Notify GP's, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals of any new chronic disease that will require monitoring.

Education / qualifications:

- Educated to at least A level standard / Equivalent qualifications / equivalent level of practical experience

Skills and abilities:

- Attention to detail.
- Ability to learn how to translate detailed knowledge of medical terminology into codes on patients’ records.
- Ability to work with data, noticing patterns, trends, and anomalies.
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues and patients demonstrating a positive, proactive, and informative approach
- A good working knowledge of IT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Able to learn new IT packages or experience of software such as Docman and EMIS Web.
- Deliver deadlines whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Able to work largely unsupervised.
- Efficient and reliable with a commitment to delivering quality work.
- Approachable, able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work flexibly across the Evergreen Group of surgeries.

Knowledge and experience:

- Experience of working in a busy office environment and/or in an administrative role.
- Good understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Agreement to undertake medical terminology training and qualifications.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

- A-Level or equivalent (required)
