The Finance Service invites applicants for a permanent Clerical Officer to join its busy Team supporting the operations for the Estate and Campus Service. You will work closely with the Team Managers and other team members to undertake a variety of financial processing, monitoring and reporting tasks, sharing responsibility for providing a flexible and responsive finance service across a range of locations based on operational requirements.

Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.

To work as a member of a team with shared responsibility for providing a flexible and responsive finance service including being the first point of contact for routine enquiries, primarily covering purchasing and the purchase ledger. To contribute to the development and embedding of new workflows and working practices within the team

**Responsibilities**:
Generic Duties (appropriate to Grade)
- Work closely with the Team Managers and other team members to undertake a variety of financial processing, monitoring and reporting tasks sharing responsibility for providing a flexible and responsive finance service across a range of locations based on operational requirements.- To be an active member of the Finance function, building & maintaining good working relationships with other teams across the service to ensure an understanding of priorities and impact across the different areas of the service.- Completes work in an accurate and timely manner and financial data is processed and reported on in accordance with statutory and University requirements.- Contribute to the development of, and work to, agreed service standards for the teamSpecific Functional duties
- In liaison with the Team Managers plan to support the delivery of a variety of financial administration activities.- Provide day to day transactional purchasing support to Academic/Professional and Commercial Services staff in accordance with the University’s Procurement, Payroll and Income Procedures.- Prepares and checks data received from Academic/Professional/Commercial Services for entry to the Agresso- Prepares invoice and expense claims, matches to authorised orders, checks and codes invoices.- Prepares Payroll timesheets, checks against payroll records and enters data to central systems.- Prepares Banking Summaries from catering outlets.- Undertake the receipt, recording, storage and delivery/notification of Goods Inwards.- Raises purchase orders and undertake ordering if required.Other

Qualifications/Knowledge and Experience

Essential- Evidence of high level of expertise in the use of Microsoft Excel and computer based accounting systems.- Experience of working well in a team and on own initiative.Desirable- Experience of working in a busy finance office and meeting operational deadlines.- Experience in supplying information on routine welfare issues to students.- Experience in providing accurate and appropriate advice, sympathetically and confidentially.Skills/Abilities
