Pay Rate: £14.11 per hour

Location: Cellular Pathology Department, High Wycombe Hospital.

Duration: 3-6 months (Immediate start required) Hours of Work: 25.5 hours per week (Thursday and Friday, 08:30-16:30)

About the Role:
Key Responsibilities:

- **General Support**: Assist Consultants and junior medical staff with various administrative tasks.
- **Typing and Reports**: Accurately type letters, second opinions, histology, cytology reports, and post-mortem reports, ensuring all information is processed efficiently using the in-house computer system.
- **Audio Typing**: Perform audio typing for macroscopic and microscopic descriptions, including SNOMED coding for accurate auditing.
- **Data Management**: Ensure all reports, especially those marked urgent, are processed appropriately and maintain an audit trail for dispatched slides and blocks.
- **Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) Support**: Complete and manage minimum data sets/proformas for certain specimens, ensuring compliance with national standards.
- **Correspondence**: Handle correspondence with other hospitals for second opinions, ensuring proper packaging and dispatch of slides and blocks.
- **Telephone Services**: Answer calls from medical staff and patients, providing necessary information and managing queries efficiently.
- **Post Mortems**: Type and manage hospital and coroner’s post-mortem reports, ensuring all documentation is complete and properly filed.
- **Administrative Duties**: Manage the diary for Pathology Seminar Room bookings and open and distribute departmental post in the absence of the support secretary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- **Medical Terminology**: Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- **Typing Skills**: Proficiency in audio typing and use of transcription equipment.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to concentrate on complex medical reports despite frequent interruptions.
- **IT Skills**: Competence in using the Winpath computer system and other standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel).
- **Communication Skills**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information tactfully.
- **Organizational Skills**: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- **Team Collaboration**: Ability to work well with a team and independently.
