The Fracture Clinic at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is looking for a motivated, positive and clinically-competent individual to lead the team and the service.

To be successful in this role you will need to have experience in trauma or orthopaedic nursing as well as managing and leading a team. You will be supported by the Clinical Matron and work closely with the Service Manager and Specialty Lead for Trauma Services.

The post-holder will have line-management responsibilities for the nursing team, including Registered Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Plaster Technicians and Healthcare Assistants.

You will need to provide clinical leadership to ensure that all patients are provided with a high-quality, evidence-based and seamless service, whilst being a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner.

Ensure the safe, effective, and efficient management of all workforce and financial resources within their clinical area.

To act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence, constantly demonstrating the highest standards of care and professionalism.

With the support of the Clinical Matron, lead the recruitment and retention of a skilled, competent, and effective nursing/midwifery workforce for their clinical area and contribute to the identification of new nursing/midwifery and support roles within their clinical specialty.

To facilitate, support and ensure the development of all staff within their team.

To represent their specialty and at times their division in corporate wide forums, operational groups, and committees, providing an expert nursing/midwifery contribution.

Act as a resource for those seeking to expand their knowledge and experience within the ward / department.

Foster an open, inclusive style of management, promoting cohesive team working, whilst ensuring that communication channels are effective within the ward / department.

Support the Clinical Matron in working in partnership with all members of the health and social care community to promote collaborative working and develop robust patient pathways within the speciality.

Represent the Trust and the profession at local, regional and national events and networks as required.

Support the Divisional Matron / Clinical Matron in the delivery of the Safeguarding Adults and Children agendas.

Ensure appropriate systems are in place to monitor, develop and review the quality of care through clinical audit and benchmarking, taking action to ensure that patient care is improved in line with organisation requirements.

Ensure that the collection of required data takes place and that action plans within the ward / department to maintain/improve standards are put in place and completed.

Promote research and evidence-based practice within the ward / department.

To ensure Trust policies and practices are implemented which will promote the Health & Safety environment of all patients, staff and visitors to the ward / department.
