Band 5 Associate Peer Support Guardian

(GloSTaRs Fellowship) 15 hours a week

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is at an innovative time in the development of Peer Support. Newly registered professionals often report feeling unprepared and apprehensive. In addition, we know that having autonomy within their role, belonging to a team and being able to meaningfully contribute, can all influence how individuals feel within the workplace.

This GloSTaRs Fellowship is a unique 6 month development post for an early career registered professional to contribute to the peer support offer within Gloucestershire hospitals.

We are excited to offer this opportunity to an early career professional to develop skills to provide pastoral care to our workforce. We aim to improve the retention and wellbeing of staff whilst supporting their development at Gloucestershire Hospitals. We contribute to this by building nurturing cultures that enable staff to feel supported and flourish in their work environment.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will have the opportunity to present and connect to different groups of staff undertaking their preceptorship programme. The Associate Peer Support Guardian will also welcome all Newly Registered Professionals in their workplace, supporting them in the transition to their new role.

In addition, you must be able to work autonomously as well as thriving as part of a supportive team. This will require excellent time management skills and using your initiative to promote and deliver the work of the network. You will be flexible and be able to adapt your work programme as required in order to focus upon individuals who require additional signposting or support. You will be committed, enthusiastic and have a good understanding of the impact peer support can have upon individuals.

In addition, you will be able to work in partnership with a key range of stakeholders. This will also be a great networking opportunity for your career development.

As part of this Peer Support team, you will have autonomy within your role, feel a sense of belonging and have opportunity to provide meaningful contribution, promoting your personal growth and development.
You will have the support of the Peer Support Guardians and will be offered a structured induction and supernumerary period that is tailored to you, allowing you to professionally develop, and contribute to exemplary professional practice.
- This is a unique development opportunity for an aspiring transformational leader to harness skills outside of their clinical practice.
- As part of this Peer Support team, you will have autonomy within your role, feel a sense of belonging and have opportunity to provide meaningful contribution, promoting your personal growth and development.
