Norwich, United Kingdom Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Full time

NSFT Specialist Services Care Group are seeking to recruit a clinical psychologist to join our developing Mother and Baby Unit at Hellesdon Hospital.

The Kingfisher MBU opened in January 2019 and is a newly built 8 bedded unit offering specialist acute in-patient treatment for mothers who have serious mental illness, in an environment where they can stay with their babies. Mothers have a range of presentations including postpartum psychosis, severe post-natal depression and severe post-natal anxiety, we also work with mothers with mild learning disabilities and or neurodevelopmental disorder. We are the regional unit for the East of England region and have a full multi-disciplinary team including medics, nurses, nursery nurses, midwives, health visitors, social workers, and therapists. You would be joining a developing therapy team including a consultant psychologist, and assistant psychologist, a parent infant psychotherapist and specialist occupational therapists.

The role will involve working within the ward teams to deliver psychologically informed care for the mothers and babies during their admission, with a focus on specialist assessment and formulation, with some therapeutic work along side this. The post holder would also be required to offer group DBT interventions on the ward and to offer reflective practice for the team, as well individual supervision to other team members, and to contribute to ward rounds, management meetings and safeguarding meetings. There would be opportunities for service-related research and audit.

We would be able to support further specialist training and continuing professional development in the role and have close links with other perinatal teams in the region, as well as linking in with the national MBU network.

Experience of working with complex trauma, of working in an acute setting, in undertaking complex risk assessment and in working in a large team would be beneficial in this role. In addition a genuine interest in working with mothers and babies and in infant mental health is essential for this role.
