**Role Purpose**:
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the force’s growing sustainability team to support with the achievement of the South Yorkshire Police carbon reduction and NET zero targets; and leading on the implementation of the South Yorkshire Police Waste Strategy; achieving compliant and cost-effective management of all waste streams.
**Key Responsibilities**:
The post holder will be responsible for:
- Managing all waste streams; overseeing budgets and reporting, procurement, contract management, and service provision for all wastes generated by South Yorkshire Police.
- Developing a waste improvement programme, scheduling and carrying out regular waste audits across all SYP sites and on all waste contractor sites, promoting innovative ways of working, facilitating continuous improvement and coordinating the provision of waste training and education to key stakeholders across the force
- Managing utilities for the force, overseeing the utilities billing system to ensure accurate recording and processing of all utility billing and carbon emissions data
- Developing new carbon monitoring and reporting systems, supporting with funding bids for decarbonisation projects, developing SYP carbon offsetting feasibility programmes and delivering EV charging and carbon saving programmes.
**Skills and experience**:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience of summarising, interpreting and presenting data and numerical information, as well as report writing and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and experience of waste and carbon management.
- Willing to work towards a waste management qualification while on the job.
- Able to travel both within and outside the SYP force area as required.
