**Principle Duties**:
Responsible for the coaching and assessment of knowledge assignments and work based competencies of students in Pharmacy-related programmes at Level 2 and above. In addition to assessment, the Assessor Coach will aim to use innovative techniques to keep students engaged and motivated to successfully complete.

**Functions**:
Coaching:

- Conducting one-to-one or group tutor sessions
- Supporting learners to complete assignments
- Liaising with educational supervisors to support learners training in the workplace

Assessing:

- Student work placements
- Knowledge assignments
- Conducting professional discussions with students
- Implementing quality processes and identify areas to improve
- **Attending and contributing to standardisation activities.**

**Key Accountabilities**:
**Coaching**
- Coach learner on knowledge assignments.
- Coach learners on how to gather evidence for work-based competencies

**Assessment**
- Deliver assessment on a range of Pharmacy qualifications offered by the institution, which includes assessment of student work based evidence and knowledge assignments as well as producing assessment plans and other activities that may impact learning effectiveness;
- Record and provide timely and accurate feedback to students on their performance and progression/achievement.
- Undertake assessment as part of a wider assessment role:
**Quality Assurance**
- Ensure effective quality control and continuous improvement in all aspects of this post in keeping with the College’s existing policies and developing quality assurance systems;
- Contribute to the review and evaluation of the programmes taught, provide advice on ways to improve delivery and help implement quality improvement plans.
- Attend regular meetings with other assessors to ensure the College is working towards meeting standards practises

**Overall**
- To provide information, advice and guidance relating to progression opportunities;
- Maintain a good rapport with learners, course coordinators, and other stakeholders;
- Motivate and support learners through their programme, providing training and timely feedback throughout and where necessary;
- Effective management of workload and diaries to ensure efficiency in learner visits (work placement and tutorials);
- To maintain learners portfolios to agreed standards;
- To complete accurate reports of learner progress;
- Co-ordinate with the Pharmacy Course Co-ordinator on day-to-day activities and escalate issues to the Academic Director, where necessary, to mitigate risks;
- To share best practices in learning delivery and assessments.

**Contract Type**: Full-time, Part-time work and job sharing is possible

**Salary**: Negotiable and dependent upon experience and qualifications

**Probation**: 6 Months

**Hours**: 37-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

**Notice Period**: 1 month notice

**Person Specification**

**1. Knowledge**

**Essential : -**
- Have recent experience of work based learning - teaching, support, marking, and/or assessing.
- Knowledge of all quality assurance processes in line with Awarding Body quality standards.

**2. Technical/Work-based Skills**

**Essential : -**
- Be experienced in the occupational area that they are assessing, at least to the level of award being assessed.
- Work-based learning assessment experience.
- Experience of employer engagement (in the Pharmaceutical industry) within an education provision setting

**3. General Skills/Attributes**

**Essential : -**
- To be fair and have good judgement in assessing against agreed standards
- Have commitment to keeping up to date with new developments.
- Able to lead and motivate students to successfully complete their programmes
- Be patient and supportive.
- Have strong communication skills, including writing, speaking and listening.
