**Job summary**:
The role of the Community Lead is positioned within the Home Office Digital, Data and Technology Directorate and helps to support and build the capability of a community of specialists who deliver digital services.

The first duty of the government is to keep citizens safe and the country secure. The Home Office has been at the front line of this effort since 1782. As such, we play a fundamental role in maintaining the security and economic prosperity of the UK.

The Home Office leads on immigration and passports, refugee protection, counter-terrorism, policing, fire services, and crime and drugs policy.

This is an exciting time to be at the Home Office. You’ll have a chance to shape the future and support our mission to deliver exceptional public services that work for everyone.

Our work is guided by these principles:

- we put user needs first
- we value delivery and outcomes over process
- we work in the open

Our flexible working policy ensures a healthy work-life balance. We also nurture talent and offer a broad range of learning and development opportunities that will help you flourish in your role.

We work hard to maintain a positive working culture and are committed to helping you fulfil your potential. We value diversity and provide an open, inclusive and supportive environment to help you do your best work.

You can keep up-to-date with our work on the Home Office DDaT blog.

**Job description**:
You will be responsible for understanding and meeting the needs of our Delivery community of practice by directly supporting the cluster’s Head of Role with resourcing, practices and culture. You will also work within and support the direction set by the Senior Civil Servant (SCS) Sponsor for your cluster. As Community Lead, you will foster and promote the community, developing and empowering members through knowledge-sharing, training and events. You will also help to set and realise DDaT and Home Office standards and behaviours.

You will manage the knowledge sharing and communication channels where community members share ideas and discuss best practice. You will additionally organise and run a range of meetings and activities, coordinating with colleagues in other departments where appropriate to arrange or facilitate cross-government events.

You will help to ensure new staff receive an induction to the Delivery community and are aware of the curated resources, as well as the programme of activities and community events. You will use your cluster knowledge to identify, develop and oversee training and development opportunities in order to build skills and capability across the department.

You will be working with senior managers to understand resourcing requirements and support efforts to attract, recruit and retain the skills, expertise and people we need to deliver DDaT’s objectives. This means you will need to be able to develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across communities and functions, good communication skills, an understanding of workforce planning, recruitment, pay and reward, people and capability development. You will also champion the sharing of best practice and continuous improvement.

Community Lead roles align most closely to the Human Resources (HR) Profession, for HR professionals across Government with a secondary alignment to the Communications Profession.

Some travel will be required.

**Person specification**:
Your main day to day responsibilities will include:

- Working closely with the Head of Role and other senior managers within the Delivery cluster to understand and meet the changing needs of the operational community of practice.
- Organising and running meetings and events around the country for Delivery Managers in the Home Office and across government.
- Managing the channels where community members share ideas and discuss best practice, proactively helping members to support and engage with each other.
- Supporting the Heads of Roles with managing consistent role definitions and career paths for your cluster ensuring alignment with agreed templates.
