**Job Summary**

The Business Development Manager will report into the Business Services Director and working closely with practice group leaders and partners, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing business development activitiesfor the firm.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of law firm practices and have the ability to position those practices and lawyers associated with them in the marketplace. A talent for working collaboratively with lawyers and professionals across functionsis an essential attribute.

**Essential Responsibilities**
- Assist Bids / Marketing in identifying and delivering high-quality business development and marketing programs firm-wide.
- Manage / Develop networks and manage relationships with potential clients to help generate leads and connect business referrals to clients.
- Establish and assess business development opportunities such as events, memberships, awards and honors, etc.
- Work directly with lawyers on business development initiatives and programs, including the development of business plans, and coaching and training of lawyers in business development.
- Assist with the creation of targeted, well-written marketing materials, the procurement and analysis of competitive intelligence and other research,

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, PR, communications or a related field.
- Minimum of three years solid business development and marketing experience, two years of which were at a professional service level in a midsize to large law firm. Experience with a rapidly growing firm preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proactive approach to problem solving; ability to prioritize and manage competing needs and fully understand the firm's clients' objectives and the tone of the marketplace.
- Creative, forward thinker capable of bringing new ideas to practice areas and client service teams.
- Results oriented team player with ability to develop deep knowledge of sources of business and resources (e.g. professional organizations, publications, referral sources) for the practice areas.
- Presence, credibility, persuasiveness, and resilience to find creative solutions to complex needs.
- Executive gravitas and polish, with the ability to influence people at all levels to respond and collaborate.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, manage time well, and work independently.
