The School of Dentistry is seeking to appoint an Assessment & Clinical Competencies Lead to join its clinical academic team. The Assessment & Clinical Competencies Lead will support the ongoing quality enhancement of assessment processes, implementing evidence-based practices, and encouraging a consistent approach across the school.

The post holder will report to the Deputy Head of School (Students & Teaching) and work closely with the course leads across all programmes in the School of Dentistry. The Lead for Assessment will be involved in the assessment processes of all dental programmes of study.

The School is rooted firmly within Primary Care and we operate an integrated BDS, Dental Hygiene Therapy and Clinical Dental Technology programme, along with a range of postgraduate clinical and non-clinical programmes at all levels across the dental team.

You will be based at Preston but may be expected to travel occasionally throughout the region, to Dental Education Centres and Enhanced Training Practices, including but not limited to Accrington, Blackpool, Morecambe and Carlisle.

We require comprehensive long-term experience in clinical dentistry in a GDP, Clinic, or University, along with experience in teaching within a dental setting. Applicants should have experience in teaching and assessment of either undergraduate or postgraduate students. Experience of question writing, standard setting and quality assurance of assessment is essential. Applicants should hold full current registration with the GDC. Fellowship of the HEA is required. Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), a post graduate qualification is desirable.

A team player, you will have the ability to explain and demonstrate practical skills, be IT literate in the use of standard Microsoft packages and will also demonstrate excellent communication skills. We require a commitment both to inter-professional education and to personal and professional development.
