We are looking for a well organised Executive Assistant who will join the Director General Office for Trading Systems Group (TSG) which delivers a variety of fast paced ambitious and complex programmes of activity that is under intense Ministerial and public scrutiny.

You will build a large degree of influence, responsibility, and autonomy across a variety of senior staff within DBT. You will be responsible for working closely with the Private Secretaries to ensure the DG’s day-to-day business is transacted efficiently and in a timely manner.

Your previous experience is not as important as your enthusiasm and passion to help us deliver our vision and mission to make DBT a more effective organisation.

**Job description**:
Working directly to the Director General, you will be:

- Management of DG diary, arranging meetings efficiently and with understanding of any timing, availability or additional constraints. Understanding meeting priorities and dealing with clashes, organising deputies where necessary.
- Preparing meeting papers, obtaining background papers, briefing notes etc. and liaising with meetings organisers or others.
- Leading on areas of the DG’s portfolio, working with relevant policy teams to coordinate work for the DG to clear.
- Arranging travel and assisting with organising large events or conferences.
- Actively building networks amongst key stakeholders and other PAs.
- Be an enthusiastic team member demonstrating a can-do spirit and positive attitude to supporting the busy Private office team.

Individuals will have time within work to complete the qualification, allowing the learner to develop the skills and knowledge required in their business environment. Eligibility for the qualification and confirmation of the apprenticeship to be undertaken will be discussed once in the role.

**Hybrid working**

The role will be based in Darlington.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.
