Communications and Administration Officer

Job description
**Our Mission** is to protect human rights by transforming the lives of human rights defenders and prisoners of conscience so that they can live safe, free and self-sufficient lives. We do this by providing financial and practical support to refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and to people who continue to suffer persecution in or near their countries of origin.
**The Role**
Working in a suppotive team of three staff and four volunteers, you will have the opportunity to play a wide-ranging, valued and rewarding role, covering:
**Fundraising & Communications**:
- Support fundraising plans with relevant communications
- Update, refresh and optimise Advantag Fundraiser (our supporter database) and Mailchimp
- Explore and implement new creative ways to communicate with supporters that will demonstrate the impact of PoC
- Maintain and develop the PoC website
- Contribute to drafting and send out theme-led newsletters to supporters
- Maintain and develop social media channels
- Help plan for and assist at events
**Administration**:
- Log all income and gift aid on Advantage Fundraiser
- Thank supporters, respond to queries and add communications on database
- Work with the accountant to ensure financial records are in order, including monthly reconciliations
- Work with our IT service providers to ensure our cloud-based solution is functioning effectively, including upgrades and migrations and setting up accounts for new users
- Run the direct debit and standing order process
- Manage and run the HMRC Gift Aid claim
- Recruit and plan work for volunteers
**Package of Support**:
- Assist in developing personal development plans for each prisoner of conscience
- Administration support for the implementation of the PoS
- Send relevant communications to prisoners of conscience
- Assist the Grant & Support Manager with formal impact assessment every 2 years
This role is currently held by a member of the team who will be promoted to Grants & Support Manager.
