As an organisation we support flexible working. This role allows hybrid working (a mix of home and office working) and a working pattern suitable for you can be discussed on appointment if you are successful.
You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home, of which you will be required to attend for regular meetings, training and for one-to-one meetings with your manager. These will be planned in advance.

You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the requirements of the commercial lease and Principal Method Statement (PMS) that are in place to support the operations of both Bike Park Wales and Natural Resources Wales at Gethin Forest.
You will act as a single point of contact for Bike Park Wales to liaise with Natural Resources Wales on a day-to-day basis.
Take the lead role on behalf of the place-based teams with providing feedback and comments to Bike Park Wales on their operations in the short, medium, and long term.
The role will require a person to understand Forest operations, all aspects of tree harvesting and silviculture programme delivery, complying with all aspects of legal liabilities and forest certification related to the operational delivery programmes.
The postholder will be responsible for all aspects of legal statutory compliance and will contribute to the management of significant financial, legal, operational and reputational risk arising from the management of the lease with Bike Park Wales lease at Gethin Forest.
**Responsibilities**
Your responsibilities include:

- Act as the NRW lead for all operational, technical, and legal issues in relation to the operations and lease at Bike Park Wales.
- Participate in the development of the Gethin Forest Vision and Principal Method Statement and deliver any agreed actions to ensure the bike park can continue to operate while allowing the development of NRW work programmes so they can be delivered without risk of non-compliance.
- Will be required to take the lead role in liaising with Bike Park Wales when the Forest Resources Plan is due for review, making sure the plan reflects current and future planned developments of the bike park that will complement the work programmes from the South Wales Central Forest Operations and Land Management teams.
- Will be required to participate in NRW technical/strategic groups or represent NRW on external forums.
- Participate in the development of teamwork plans and the delivery of operational work plans across South Wales Central.
- Have an oversight and responsibility for allowing the direct delivery of programmes within the Core Area and agree with the contract conditions that will see timber harvested from Gethin Forest, including all relevant compliance and adhering to procurement process.
- Required to take part in incident response activities.

**Qualifications, experience and knowledge**
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the following:

- Experience of working across a wide range of land management disciplines.
- Knowledge of sustainable forest management, UKWAS and forest certification schemes.
- Coaching and mentoring skills.
- Good understanding of commercial business processes and pressures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with regulated business and the public, explaining complex issues and gaining support by influencing.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects of forest practise, including, forest planning, forest operations.

**Welsh language requirements**
**Essential **Level 1** - able to pronounce Welsh and use basic phrases

**Essential Knowledge and Skills**
- Post holders will have substantial contract management experience and will be able to deliver contracts of mid-level complexity, risk and impact. Knowledge of contract law and contract management/ governance and its consequences is essential. Post holders will have the ability to develop briefs and specifications for contracts.
- Post holders will display technical knowledge in their discipline and will have relevant experience.
- Post holders will have a high level of knowledge and experience of health, safety and wellbeing as well as public safety and public liability.

**Evaluation of Information**
- Interprets the function’s operational delivery plans and understands its context in the wider NRW strategy.
- Ability to interpret contracts and contract law, and be able to assess and evaluate contract queries, challenges and non-compliance.
