University and College Union have an exciting opportunity for a **Wales Official** to lead the team.

**Salary**: £62,145 p.a.

Hours: 35 per week

Contract: Permanent, full time

Location: Bridgend, Glamorgan

**About Us**:
The University and College Union (UCU) represents over 123,000 academics, lecturers, trainers, instructors, researchers, managers, administrators, computer staff, librarians and postgraduates in universities, colleges, prisons, adult education and trainingorganisations across the UK. We also have members in the private sector, for example in private training agencies and language schools, as well as members working on a freelance basis. Students training to teach in post-school education also belong to UCU.

**Wales Official** - The Role:
The Bargaining, Organising, Representation & Operations Department at UCU is seeking a Wales Official to lead the team in Bridgend, Glamorgan. Reporting to the Head of Bargaining, Organising,

Representation & Operations, your main duties will include:

- Effective implementation of UCU strategic planning in Wales
- Securing and maintaining recognition of UCU in Wales
- Overseeing effective implementation of national agreements, pay scales and other nationally agreed bargaining objectives at branch level
- Managing the UCU Wales staff team and office
- Responsibility for UCU’s organisation in Wales, including the accreditation of UCU representatives

**Wales Official** - You:

- The post would suit someone with experience of a similar working environment and/or understanding of working for a trade union or other not-for-profit organisation
- You will need a good knowledge of the post-compulsory education sector; a working knowledge and understanding of employment law, as well as collective bargaining and trade union organising experience
- With excellent interpersonal skills, you will be able to represent members and be prepared to travel within the region
- You will be educated to GCSE level (inc. maths & English) or equivalent
