**The Vacancy**

James Hutton Ltd, the commercial arm of the James Hutton Institute based at Invergowrie, Dundee seeks a motivated individual to provide administrative support to our staff. This job will be undertaken as a Modern Apprenticeship and so it is recognised that the post-holder will be undertaking appropriate in-house and external training and development as necessary. The primary purpose of the role is to provide administrative support to the JHL admin team and Business Development Managers. The position provides a stimulating mix of office duties in a friendly organisation.

Please note that applicants without the right to work in the UK and with qualifications higher than Scottish Higher will not be considered for this level of post.

**Main Purchase of Job**
- Administrative support to the JHL PA to the Directors, Licensing Manager and Business Development Managers.

**Main duties of postholder**
- To undertake training both internally and externally and learn practical skills required to successfully gain the relevant Modern Apprenticeship in Administration.
- Support organisation of JHL meetings and events including arranging catering, organising room set-up and printing documentation.
- Provide support to:

- The PA to the Directors.
- The Licensing Manager and administrative assistant.
- The Head of James Hutton Limited.
- The Communications and Marketing Manager - assist with ordering materials and preparation for events.
- Update and maintain records and files.
- Maintain stationery supplies.
- Undertake general office duties including photocopying, processing mail, reception duties and data input.

**Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge**

Essential
- Expected to have obtained or gain SVQ Level 2 Admin and English or seeking to obtain National 5 qualifications or equivalent.
- Expected to complete a Level 6 Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQs) in Business and Administration.
- Computer literate with basic skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and evidence of use of modern computer software.
- Evidence of good written and verbal communication.
- Organised and with good attention to detail.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Demonstrable enthusiasm and initiative.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.

Desirable
- Relevant work experience in an administration and/or support office role.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Drivers licence would be an advantage.
