To type, copy, distribute and file all letters, reports and other correspondence promptly and efficiently.

To send out appointment invitation letters, deal with subsequent telephone calls and send out confirmation appointment letters, if required.

To deal with cancellations and set up meetings/appointments on request.

To acknowledge and pass on verbal complaints.

To acknowledge and pass on patients/carers concerns.

To maintain good filing systems.

To operate a system of requisitioning goods - checking/following up missing goods.

To distribute incoming/outgoing post appropriately.

To update information on IT Systems and retrieve information from them/run reports as requested.

To ensure adequate supplies of all stationery.

To prepare materials for presentations as requested.

To attend meetings and take minutes as requested.

To maintain and update word processing skills.

To function as a member of the clerical team, to help out colleagues during busy periods and to cover as necessary during holiday periods and/or sick leave.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust is a 500 bed district general hospital which competes on a national level in a number of areas. We are the only acute provider within a 40 miles radius and have a key role as part of the local health community.

The stroke SLT team is part of a wider MDT consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dietitians and Clinical Psychologists. We work closely alongside Stroke Consultants and Stroke Specialist Nurses to ensure a high quality of patient care. The stroke service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital provides stroke care throughout the whole pathway from hyper-acute to long term community. The Stroke Unit regularly achieves an A rating in the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme and provides stroke care to patients and their families living in West Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. The Speech and Language Therapy department consists of 6 Speech Therapists. Within the stroke team there are currently 4 SLTs supported by a full time SLT assistant.
