Risk Management Analyse risk and compliance data and make recommendations to ICSU committees to address identified deficits in safety and/or compliance and ensure agreed actions are completed. Review the ICSU risk registers with service leads and ICSU triumvirate ensuring they are up-to-date and reviewed regularly. Support staff with completing risk assessments and provide training on risk management as required. Work collaboratively with other ICSUs to enable the identification of safety risks through adverse incidents, complaints, legal claims, H & S risk assessment, risk registers and other methods of risk identification (e.g., safety alerts, NICE etc) and ensure that any actions to mitigate identified risk are implemented.

Governance and Quality Have oversight and involvement with QI projects in the ISCU related to PSIRF and patient safety. Complete a performance indicator dashboard and individual reports as required for the ICSU. Review and analyse internal patient safety data and intelligence identifying themes and trends and inform on organisation projects/initiatives as directed that produce change and learning reducing clinical risk. Provide support on matters relating to risk and patient safety within the ICSU.

Produce a monthly quality governance report that reflects quality performance and associated learning. Ensure action plans arising from incidents and patient feedback are completed within agreed timescales and that evidence is submitted to the relevant committees. Monitor compliance with the Duty of Candour in respect of patient safety incidents, providing support for clinical staff and ensuring that the duties of the Trust are met. Support clinicians with patients and/or their relatives to outline the processes for investigation and discussing investigation findings.

Support staff when meeting with patients and/or their relatives following a complaint or concern, outlining complaint processes for investigation, findings, learning and resolution. Professional Comply with governing body registration and keep up to date with current practices, maintaining clinical competence in area of expertise. Identify your development needs within your annual appraisal. Ensure that the organisations goals are reflected in your own and your teams objectives.

Demonstrate the Trusts core behaviors in delivering a quality service. Act, at all times, in such a way as to provide a suitable and professional role model. Form part of the Surgery & Cancer senior leadership team and will be expected to provide senior professional support and leadership as required to other services in the absence of their matron or lead.
