Ashton Recruitment requires a Communications Officer for our client based in Belfast.

Position: Communications Officer

Location: Belfast (Hybrid working available)

Duration: Temporary

Rate of Pay: £16.79 per hour

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

- To develop, maintain and implement a Marketing and Communications Strategy for the ONSIDE project in line with SEUPB guidelines.
- To liaise closely with the Project Manager, Project Partners and SEUPB Communications Team on all marketing and communication activity.
- To work under the guidance of the Project Manager to generate press and media coverage for the organisation, including implementing press campaigns, organising, and supervising photo calls, interviews and other press and media requests.
- In collaboration with the Project Manager, to distribute press releases for local and national press and to assist in the maintaining and developing of good relationships with key media contacts.
- To manage the production of high quality, accurate and timely publications, and digital communications in line with the Marketing and Communications Strategy.
- Develop event plans for all corporate events which will include the management, promotion, and evaluation of all activities.
- To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time by Disability Action in line with the status of the post.

Essential Criteria:

- A relevant university degree or professional qualification of equivalent standing (e.g., Marketing, PR, Journalism) and three years’ experience working as a marketing / PR / communications practitioner; OR Five years’ experience working as a marketing /PR / communications practitioner.
- Experience of delivering successful Marketing and Communications strategies to achieve specific outcomes.
- Computer skills that include good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent presentational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to meet the travel requirements of the post - i.e. to undertake travel throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and to spend time away from home.

Desirable Criteria
- Personal and / or lived experience of disability.
- Experience of undertaking monitoring and evaluation of communications and events and preparing evaluation reports.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and a commitment to their equal rights; and an understanding of and a commitment to the values of Disability Action.
