**The Grand Hotel, Birmingham**:
**VIP, Entertainment & Group Bookings Agent**:
We have an exciting and rare opportunity to join our Commercial team. This role will establish and develop personal contact with all our VIP, Entertainment and Group bookings ensuring their accommodation needs and expectations are met. You will handle all incoming enquiries, providing proposals and detailed quotations in line with the set demand calendar to ensure maximisation of revenue and conversion. In addition, you will handle guests rooming lists, special requirements/riders and support our wider reservations team with transient queries.

**What you will do**
- Specialise in VIP, Entertainment and Group Bookings
- Confidently negotiate with clients to ensure the business is won whilst still remaining commercially viable
- Conduct show rounds to Grand standard in order to wow the client and secure business
- Collate rooming lists, ensure special rider requests are communicated and carried out, collect payments and deposits in line with contracted terms.
- Arrange and lead pre-arrival communication meetings with high value and high-profile bookings
- Generating sales among client accounts, including up-selling and cross-selling.
- Dealing with entertainment and group bookings, issuing with quotes, contracts and attending show-round and client meetings to close sales
- Deliver effective communication between the office, reception, housekeeping, accounts and operations teams ensuring successful delivery of all requests and requirements
- Assist all clients/guests with any special requirements
- Ensure all guests and company information are stored and managed in safe and confidential manner, ensuring is shared only on a need-to-know basis
- Determine the most appropriate room type to meet guest requirements and maximize room rate
- Answer guest questions about property facilities/services (e.g., hours of operation, room availability, restricted dates, rates and room types, packages, promotions, entertainment, restaurants, special events).
- Developing and maintaining long-term relationships with accounts
- Dealing with change of priorities and work demands
- Previous experience as a Reservations Agent in a 4/5* Hotel
- Experience using Opera
- Basic computer skills
- Strong knowledge of all departments and the industry
- Customer focus and exceptional guest service levels
- Experience in the Birmingham City Centre market is highly desirable
- Ability to drive sales and upsell
- Pro-active attitude
- Remarkable written and verbal communication skills
- Personality, flair and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels
