**Environment and Ecology Advisor**

We have a great opportunity for an Environment and Ecology Advisor to join the North West region of our Story England Division, based out of our Carlisle or Chorley office.

**The Role**

As an Environment and Ecology Advisor at Story Contracting, you will provide regional environmental and ecological advice, as well as supporting the development and implementation of key business documents such as the Nature, Carbon & Sustainability Strategy and the company’s Environmental Management System in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide environmental support to the project delivery team, including initiatives to achieve sustainable construction, low carbon solutions and a circular economy.
- Provide ecological support throughout the design and delivery stages of a project, mitigating risks and aiming to achieve biodiversity net gain on site.
- Working with external contractors and providing support in the production of and compliance with key items such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Invasive Non-Native Species Management Plans, Biodiversity Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRAs), Protected Species Method Statements and Species-Specific Toolbox Talks.
- Supporting in the production of Environment & Social Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans and Environmental Incident Response Plans;
- Undertaking environmental audits on site to assess compliance with key documentation, pollution prevention, waste management and ecology on site.
- Drive the environmental agenda for, and on behalf of, Story Contracting at industry forums.
- Promoting a culture that supports sustainable best practice in the workplace.
- Liaise with key regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency and Natural England.
- Monitor and accurately report on environmental and ecological compliance.

- Relevant Degree in Environmental Management and / or Ecology
- Member of a relevant professional body (CIEEM / IEMA)
- Relevant knowledge of permit, license and consent requirements common for construction projects
- Experience in completing ecological / protected species surveys
- Experience in completing Environmental and Social Management Plans and Environmental Risk Assessments
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001:2015
- Understanding of ISO 50001:2011 / ESOS Requirements
