**Food Safety Coordinator**

**Purpose of the role**:
To manage, monitor and support food safety** compliance** in Individual Restaurants

As the **Food Safety Coordinator,** you will have a solid understanding of the Individual Restaurants Brand including restaurant and central production kitchen food safety standards.

Primarily, you’ll be an operational part of the restaurant group to drive and support **compliance** who can effectively communicate risks to the Head of Regulatory and Brand Directors. You will be responsible for the restaurants food safety policy and will work with a third party **compliance **consultancy (including supplier management and allergens).

Experience and a recognised qualification in **health and safety** and **fire safety** would be an advantage to this role.

The role will predominantly involve audit completion at restaurants in the UK (mainly England at the moment) and occasionally at the central kitchen based in Stockport as well as training of colleagues where required.

You will also be responsible for following up on **Local Authority inspections** and queries in relation to inspections/food hygiene rating scheme/complaints and liaising with third party auditors. The role will be a mix of home based and restaurant/central production kitchen-based working with occasional visits to Head Office in Deeside, Wales. The role will involve regularly and routine travel to restaurants.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for day-to-day maintenance, development and monitoring of restaurant food safety standards and legislative compliance
- Work with management at the central production kitchen to ensure food is prepared, labelled, stored and transported safely.
- Track and report food safety performance e.g. micro sampling, hygiene ratings, complaints etc
- Respond to and track customer complaints related to AFPs, allergens, foreign objects.
- Monitor and assess HACCP compliance and due diligence checks.
- Follow up on third party audit non-compliances and ensuring that the food safety management system is up to date in line with menu changes.
- Support with any new food safety related trials /launches/new restaurant set up
- Assist in developing restaurant advice for emerging food safety issues.
- Assist in maintaining food safety documentation and training materials.

**Skills**:

- You will be required to work routinely from home and office environment with ability to frequently visit restaurants as required.
- You will report directly to the Head of Regulatory
- The role is field based with regularly travel to sites in the UK
- Act both as an operational part of the team but also in an auditor role assessing compliance and helping to find and implement corrective action.

**Specialist Skills and Knowledge**:

- Education to degree level (or equivalent), ideally in Environmental Health or a food safety related disciple
- EHRB or equivalent registration is preferred but not essential.
- Auditing and/or enforcement experience
- Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering (or equivalent)
- Experience in health and safety and fire safety would be preferred.
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- You’ll have experience working in the food and hospitality sector
- You’ll have a good understanding food safety and HACCP preferable with multi site operations with central kitchens and complex dishes.
