An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Medical Secretary to join the administration team within the Arrhythmia service of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based on the Aintree University Hospital site.

Applicants should be an experienced and professional secretary with excellent organisational and communication skills. This would be an ideal opportunity to progress your career within the NHS.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

To provide a comprehensive service to the consultants and specialty teams, with the minimum of supervision.

It is essential that you show initiative commensurate with the role and it is vital that confidentiality should be maintained at all times.

To organise own workload and coordinate activities with other medical secretaries to ensure that an efficient service is provided.

To manage clinic templates in line with service needs

To manage the patient journey from referral to discharge.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

Provide a comprehensive service to consultants and specialty teams including nurse practitioners/clinicians.
Manage the patient journey from referral/RTT to discharge for patients within own area, ensuring these are recorded accurately on the relevant systems, and that patient is reviewed promptly in appropriate clinic.
Clinical Utilisation management, ensuring clinics are fully populated with correct patients or cancelled as appropriate.
Management of patient waiting lists, highlighting areas of concern to consultant, line manager and others as appropriate.
Deal with patient queries in a professional and courteous manner ensuring information is shared with relevant clinical staff as required.
Accurately transcribe clinical dictation using appropriate system ensuring reports are distributed in accordance with consultant instructions, completing any actions arising from clinical dictation as required.
Confidence and ability to lead small admin team to provide comprehensive admin support to a busy service.
