**About us**

As part of a Carers Services team, our purpose is to enable unpaid carers to focus on their own needs and access sources of information, advice, and support.

We do this through providing service and support appropriate to individual needs, to enable unpaid carers to carry out their role effectively, while maintaining their own health, wellbeing, and a life of their own.

An unpaid carer is someone who provides or intends to provide unpaid care or support, to an adult or child who is unable to manage without this help due to a long-term illness, disability, mental health problem or an addiction. This includes adult carers, parent carers and young carers.

**About the role**
Pay Details: Scale 5 s.c.p. 8-12 (£24,702 - £26,421) p.a. pro rata

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 18.5hrs Monday - Friday tba

Main Place of Work: Multiple locations across Vale of Glamorgan

**Description**: The role exists to provide information, advice and assistance to unpaid adult and young carers and carry out statutory carers’ needs assessments. This involves visiting unpaid carers in their own homes and identifying ways to support carers by signposting them to sources of support, helping them to navigate the barriers resulting from providing care, and to assist them to achieve things that matter to them.

The role is carried out within the statutory framework of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014.

**About you**
You will need:

- At least 2 years’ experience of working in a health, social care or in a role supporting people
- To be an effective communicator
- To understand the role of an unpaid carer and the challenges this creates
- Motivation to empower and support people in a sensitive and respectful manner
- Sound IT and administrative skills
- A full valid driving licence
